Every year the National Gallery in Singapore organize the Light to Night event. This year we happen to be here in time. As we got little details about the event, we thought there are historical buildings being illuminated. It turned out that they are art works combining film with curated music. This year's theme: Reimagine.
I have recorded 2 of the art works to share with you, even that I know it's hard to find time to watch several minutes videos in daily business. And, I appologize for the ones who don't care and walk into the videos.
Title: Winter Sonata, Summer Mookata by Knuckles & Notch, Place: The Art House
Synopsis (Text by the National Gallery SG): Winter Sonata, Summer Mookata takes you on a surreal and mind-blending journey that explores the intricacies of human existence and spiritual consciousness with trippy visual imagery. Drawing inspiration from pop culture, comics, films, anime, science fiction and philosophy, and using a combination of digital and analogue animation techniques, the artists invite viewers into a strange and captivating world that shifts between the tactile and the intangible.
Title: Embroidered Landscapes by Sistrum, Place: Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall
Synopsis (Text by the National Gallery SG): Embroidered Landscapes draws inspiration from the costumes and music of jie xi, a type of Chinese Opera, which is disappearing from the streets of Singapore. Each opera costume is like a landscape in and of itself. Using animated visuals and electronic music, this project reimagines the Victoria Theatre facade to create new cityscapes combining vernacular and contemporary art forms.
I Love it! Best Mario
