Singapore Architecture

As I wrote in my last post, Singapore is diverse in religions. It is not only this but a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities. This is reflected in the cityscape. There are many well preserved traditional buildings like shop houses from the colonial era. But also comtemporary architecture that integrate esthetic as well as technological trends.

Singapore is an extremely green city. Not only there are many parks and green spaces, it is also legally required to green spaces to transform high-rise concrete into oxygen producing green. Singapore was also the first city who tested and drove the Greening of facade. Many skyscrapers carry massive trees and palm trees and look like jungle. In addition, the many green spaces ensure the drain of water in time of strong rainfall.

The latest I have read about is urban farming in skyscrapers. In Capitaspring there is a particular floor meant only to grow fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, we didn‘t make it to visit the farm. We may try again Start May on our way home.

I have put together some pics to share impressions of architecture and landmarks.
