The diversity of religions in Singapore and above all the tolerance towards each other is remarkable. In other countries in South and Southeast Asia is it more so that the majority follows one main religion.
In 2023 there are 26% Buddhists, 18% Muslims, 17% Christs, 8% Hindu, 6% Taoists and Confuzians, 4% other religions, i.e. 79% belong to a religious community. In comparison, it’s 64% in Germany.
Like the religions tolerate each other, they often build their different Houses of God nearby each other, sometimes even in direct neighbourhood.
I have taken pictures of 4 houses for you.
Upper 3 pics: Sri Mariammam Temple (Hindu)
The green one: Masjid Jamae (Muslim)
The white one with the golden dome: Sultan Mosque (Muslim)
The red one in- and outside: Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (Buddhism)
